Transition Services
At Avidd, we provide a full range of transition services including job sampling, travel training, building self-advocacy skills and opportunities to high school students to get them involved in integrated competitive employment. Avidd involves students in a variety of other learning experiences such as the development of independent living skills, participation in community integration activities, and engagement in lifelong pursuits.
These transition activities can be essential in preparing students for a successful adulthood. As part of its transitional services, Avidd & Bethel Ridge staff become active participants in developing transition plans.
Avidd & Bethel Ridge provides
- Individualized and person-centered vocational assessments
- Comprehensive job development of employment opportunities
- Intensive and person-centered job coaching throughout the initial and critical phase of an individual’s employment
- Ongoing and as-needed follow-up support to maximize the chance of employment success
Transition Services
Our transition services are designed to assist schools in developing and implementing quality transition plans for students in special education programs. Preparing students for the world of work is the key component of a successful transition plan. We offer various services for successful transition planning:
School To Work Transition Program
Avidd teams with school districts and private schools to enhance and supplement the schools transition services by providing job exploration, work readiness skills, self-advocacy skills, and work-based learning experiences.
Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)
A skills trainer works with students 1:1 to teach students about different career opportunities, work readiness skills, self-advocacy skills, post-secondary education and work-based learning experiences. Students must be eligible for DVRS services.
Pre-ETS Paid Internship Program
A program where students 14-21 yeas of age who have an IEP or 504 Plan can participate in a 3-week skills training session to learn work readiness and self-advocacy skills, followed by a paid work experience with a local employer. Students are paid $18/hour for up to 150 hours with the support of a skills trainer. Students must be eligible to work in NJ, eligibel for DVRS services and be able to work independently on a jobsite with supports
