About AVIDD Community Services

Avidd Community Services of NJ is proud to have maintained a long history of providing quality services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For us, nothing is more rewarding than seeing our residents reach their goals, whether in personal relationships, employment, leisure activities, overcoming challenging behaviors, and improving health.

Like everyone, those we support want to feel valued and find their purpose. The Avidd staff stands by them every step of the way as they rely on their own hard work and motivation to accomplish their goals.

AVIDD’S HISTORY

Mission Statement

In 1986, Avidd Community Services of NJ, Inc. was created to provide group homes and community-based services for people with developmental disabilities who were living in a nursing home set for closure. Avidd’s purpose is to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their full human potential.

We believe developmental disabilities do not detract from an individual’s value. Avidd is committed to helping individuals with developmental disabilities participate fully in all aspects of community life.

Avidd enables each person to develop fully, encouraging independence and growth while treating every individual who receives services with respect and dignity by caring and concerned staff who pay close attention to each person’s desires, needs, and aspirations and support people with disabilities as they achieve their goals.

Residential Services

The focus of our Residential Services is community participation, family support, and individual empowerment. Avidd & Bethel Ridge assists individuals in living within the community. Our 14 community residences are licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Supported Employment

Avidd Community Services and Bethel Ridge's Supported Employment Department is a training and placement program for adults with developmental disabilities emphasizing job retention. Our program has CARF accreditation, an internationally recognized distinction for meeting the highest standards of excellence in community programs, personnel, and documentation of services.

Transition Services

Avidd Transition Services involve students in various other learning experiences such as the development of independent living skills, participation in community integration activities, and engagement in lifelong recreation pursuits, which can be essential in preparing the student for a successful adult life.

Recreational Services

Avidd & Bethel Ridge believe that recreational activities provide opportunities to exercise choice and control in their lives. An array of recreational activities assist individuals residing in our residence as well as those living in the local community in developing personal strengths and abilities.
